Dancers are required to attend class weekly for their scheduled times. Absences are recorded for retention purposes. It is important that dancers attend their assigned classes each week to ensure growth in skill and flexibility, as well as preparing for performances of the choreography learned in each class. Make up classes may be attended but must be discussed with the owner of The Dance Project of Gaines County. Those on Scholarship will have to maintain their requirements for attendance to keep their benefits for their season. If they are not met The Dance Project of Gaines County and it's board have the right to revoke the scholarship and the remaining tuition will need to be paid accordingly or the class(es) dropped immediately per discussion with the board. If there are extenuating circumstances, we do understand things happen, it will have to be worked out with the Owner and discussed with the board members to reach a resolution.
Behavior & Disciplinary Policy:
Dancers are expected to behave courteously and respectfully during all classes and events with The Dance Project of Gaines County. Listening and participation skills are extremely important to ensure all students can learn at their best. There is ZERO TOLERANCE for bullying from both children AND parents. We strive to ensure every dancer and their family feel welcome and a part of the family. To be encouraged and celebrated. If at any time a staff member deems a student or parent's behavior unacceptable a warning will be given. If this is a student, a second offense means the parent will be notified, on the 3rd offense the student will need to be removed from enrollment. If this is a parent, a second offense means the parent will be asked to wait outside the premises in their vehicle. On the 3rd offense, the parent will no longer be allowed and their child will need to be dropped from enrollment unless arrangements can be made for them to be dropped off otherwise. NO REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN IN THE EVENT A STUDENT HAS TO BE REMOVED FROM ENROLLMENT.
When we are outside the studio for events, performances, competitions, etc, it is VERY important we conduct ourselves in a respectful and classy manner. We will learn to smile and greet others, wave,. We will be quiet and courteous for others performances and cheer on the other teams or participants. Setting an example as well rounded students with integrity and a team player attitude. There will be ZERO GOSSIPING about others within the studio walls or other studios during outside events. This falls under the no bullying guidelines.
Disruptive behavior will not be tolerated. Everyone who attends classes are there to learn, progress and have fun. If a dancer cannot control themselves with excessive talking or talking back to an instructor a warning will be given. If the behavior continues the instructor will use conditioning as a form of punishment. If the behavior still persists, parents will be notified and we will discuss what is best to move forward before removing from enrollment.
At The Dance Project of Gaines County we strive to see growth and confidence gained in your dancer. It is important to follow the rules of behavior and etiquette so that disciplinary action is not necessarily needed. We want them to learn and stay in a structured environment so they flourish, not be broken down. I would much rather use a little tough love through conditioning to make them stronger and learn from the mistake than send them packing. If you have any questions about the behavior and discipline section of the policy please reach out. I am open and transparent with every parent and genuinely only want the best for each and every student.
