WHY DID WE CHOOSE TO BE A NONPROFIT!?
We share a great passion for the world of dance and the performing arts! We love volunteering and teaching from our hearts, giving back to our community in a way that uplifts the youth in the area. Giving them strong cognitive, emotional and leadership benefits that will stay with them thru adulthood.
WHAT IS A NONPROFIT?
A nonprofit organization is a legal entity that operates for a collective, public, or social benefit, rather than to generate profit for private owners or shareholders. Any surplus revenue is reinvested into the organization's mission-driven programs and services, not distributed as profit. Nonprofits often qualify for tax-exempt status from the IRS, such as 501(c)(3) status for charities, which allows them to receive tax-deductible donations.
KEY ASPECTS OF A NONPROFIT -
PURPOSE:
The primary goal is to serve the public interest or a specific social cause, such as educational programs, the arts, health missions, religious work, or other social services.
REVENUE USAGE:
Any money earned through donations, grants, or fundraising activities must be channeled back into the organization's operations and mission, not to individuals.
STRUCTURE:
Nonprofits do not have owners or shareholders; instead, they are governed by a board of directors or trustees who are responsible for ensuring the organization stays on mission and complies with legal requirements.
FUNDING:
Donations: A major source of funding comes from private individuals and foundations.
Grants: Nonprofits often receive government and private grants.
Fundraising: Various activities and events are held to raise funds.
Program Services: Income can also be generated from providing services or selling related merchandise.
